Presentation purposes
Most presentation packs are displayed on the retail shelf where presentation is extremely important; therefore a packaging film with a high degree of clarity is required. Presentation films (PVC, Polyolefin) give a totally enclosed, added value appearance as well as providing a tamper evident pack.
The Film
- PVC, 17-38 micron thickness
- Polyolefin, 12-25 micron thickness
Machines
- Manual, semi and fully automatic ‘L’ sealers and shrink tunnels.
Typical Packs
- Stationery, audio/video cassettes, computer software, boxed games, gift packs, books, print finishing, pizzas, and trays of foods/meats/fruits, trays of eggs, etc.
Your products may have special requirements outside the above parameters. If you are unclear what sort of packaging is most appropriate for your needs please contact our sales team on 00 44 (0)1202 880204.
Collation / Protection / Transit Purposes
Manufacturers need to be able to pack their product range for delivery to the wholesaler or supermarket. Therefore the packaging film maybe required to hold a collation of products such as jars, tins, bottles etc together within a cardboard tray, or to protect a product or outer carton whilst in transit.
If an expensive multi colour printed carton is necessary the film must offer protection to the display carton for the carriage from the manufacturing base. In most cases this film will be removed on arrival at the wholesaler or supermarket as its purpose has been fulfilled.
The Film
- Polyethylene, 25-150 micron thickness.
Machines
- Manual or fully automatic sleeve wrapping sealer (inline or sidefeed) and shrink tunnel.
Typical Packs
- Trays of jars, bottles and canned products, collations of magazines or boxes, piles of garments, laundry, industrial products, display boxes of eggs, etc.
It is important that you decide which of these two options (presentation or transit/distribution) is relevant to your own needs because it will indicate which of our product ranges is applicable.

The benefits of shrinkwrapping systems
Presentation purposes
Sparkling, glossy film can add retail value to your product. The film totally encloses your product giving a good degree of tamper evidence security. Packaging films can very effectively band items together such as stationery, printwork etc.
Collation / Protection / Transit Purposes
Significant cost savings can be made switching from corrugated cartons to sleevewrapping using trays and polyethylene film.
Greater protection for boxes containing your products if they are overwrapped with polythene film. This can protect the carton from scuffing marks during transit, which is particularly important if the carton has a high degree of multi colour print for retail sales or instructions etc. The polythene film also protects the boxes from water damage and strengthens the overall protection of the box.
Considerable labour savings can sometimes be made, particularly if the product is coming from a single line feed. In many cases the wrapping system can also be used to collate the product in the correct format prior to the wrapping cycle.
Wraps can design special purpose product collation and tiering devices together with conveyors etc to complete your system.
Major Consideration
The balance between presentation and protection. How many units will you be packing per hour, per day or month, bearing in mind the requirement may not be continuous. This will determine if a manual, semi automatic or fully automatic system is required.
In some instances an automatic system will be selected to avoid the costs of an operator. The minimum and maximum product sizes will be needed to determine the size of the most suitable system. Thought should be given to the available budget taking into account any savings that can be made.
